Recent concerts include a return visit to the Wigmore Hall, St. Georges' Bristol, Goldsmith’s Hall and Leighton House, as well as recitals across the country from Plymouth to Northumberland. In November 2009 they will perform at the Bath MozartFest. Other musicians who have performed in the ensemble include: Thomas Gould (violin), Tom Hankey (violin), Bea Lovejoy (violin) and Louisa Tuck ('cello).

Recitals can be made up from the following combinations:

  1. Duo - harp plus one other instrument
  2. Trio - normally Flute, Viola and Harp but other combinations possible
  3. Quintet - either Flute, Violin, Viola, 'Cello and Harp or String quartet and Harp
  4. Septet - Flute, Clarinet, String Quartet and Harp

'a fine performance, with Pryce particularly sensitive...an effervescent flute melody from Walker was taken up enthusiastically by Pryce, before a bluesy intervention from Cooney’s violin, suitably exaggerated. Ensemble throughout...was excellent, the group’s sense of expressive holding back just right'

Adam Walker and Sally Pryce

Adam and Sally have been enthralling audiences at numerous festivals around the country since their first performances together at the British Embassies in Paris and Madrid. Since then they have performed in venues across the country and abroad including the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall Manchester and St George's Bristol. They continue to enjoy a busy schedule of performances and are quickly creating a reputation as one of the finest Flute and Harp duos performing today. In May 2007 Sally and Adam made their debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall performing Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto. 2008 saw their debuts with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in Porstmouth and Exeter, and with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields at the Barbican's Mostly Mozart Festival, again performing Mozart's Concerto.

'Adam Walker and Sally Pryce were the young and phenomenally talented soloists in Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp, K299, exquisitely played and flawless in its perfection'
The Guardian, Barbican Mostly Mozart Festival with Academy of St Martin in the Fields, July 2008

Adam Walker

Born in Retford, Nottinghamshire in 1987, Adam Walker taught himself to play the flute at the age of 9. A year later he entered Chetham's School of Music, where he studied with Gitte Sorensen. In September 2005 he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music where he is currently studying with Michael Cox and in 2007 he was selected for representation by Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT). In 2002, at the age of 14, Adam became the youngest ever winner of the British Flute Society Competition and in 2003 won the Royal Over-Seas League prize for the woodwind player with the most promise. The following year he was a Concerto Finalist in the 2004 BBC Young Musicians Competition performing Nielsen's Flute Concerto with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ilan Volkov at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. He went on to give debut recitals at Wigmore Hall, St. George’s Bristol and to tour the Middle East. He has given numerous radio broadcasts, including appearances on BBC Radio 3 and made his Proms debut in 2008.

As a soloist Adam has also appeared with the Hallé Orchestra at Bridgewater Hall and with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

THE DORETTE VIOLIN AND HARP DUO

Elizabeth Cooney, violin and Sally Pryce, harp met as scholars at the Royal College of Music London and both graduated in 2001 with first class honours. As soloists they have since made their mark on the international stage and have come together as a duo to perform a wide spectrum of repertoire for violin and harp including works rarely if ever heard by audiences. We chose the name Dorette for our violin and harp duo after discovering that this was the name of Louis Spohr's wife. Louis Spohr was a renowned violinist and composer of his day and performed many recitals with Dorette, one of the great harpists of the time. Dorette, along with her husband was responsible for bringing music for violin and harp to many audiences throughout Europe.

Elizabeth Cooney

Selected as the National Concert Hall Ireland's Rising Star 2006, Elizabeth is laureate of numerous international competitions. She has performed with many distinguished partners at the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Victoria Hall, Geneva and the Weill Hall at Carnegie, New York.

Her performance of Mozart's Concerto no.1 in B flat major with the Ulster Orchestra / Howard Shelley was broadcast on BBC3 Radio earlier this year. She will perform the Bruch Violin Concerto in G minor with the Ulster Orchestra and Gavin Maloney in Oct 08, followed by the Dvorak Violin Concerto in A minor with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and Vladimir Altschuler on a five date concert tour of Ireland in November 08.

Elizabeth is a keen chamber musician and advocate of new music and will premiere Northern Irish composer Greg Caffrey's new piece for solo violin, 'Rigour, Vigour, Jigger' at the Music21 Series at the National Concert Hall, Dublin in September 08. She has also premiered works by Mark Anthony Turnage (his trio 'A Fast Stomp' with the Sans Souci trio at the Canterbury Festival) and the British premiere of Messiaen's newly discovered Fantaisie for violin and piano with Matthew Schellhorn at the Jacqueline du Pre Music Building, Oxford in 2007.

Elizabeth studied with Adrian Petcu at the Cork School of Music before studying with Itzhak Rashkovsky at the Royal College of Music London. She was subsequently held both the Mills Williams and Phoebe Benham Junior Fellowships at the RCM London over two years.
